Damaris Valdes

Damaris Valdes is Assistant Director for Operations in the Division of Academic and Student Affairs at Florida International University. She also serves as an Adjunct Instructor for a Strategies for Success course at the university.

In her role as Assistant Director, Damaris oversees and manages the day-to-day administrative operations of the Division. She works in conjunction with the Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs in the implementation of Division work plans and change management plans related to the university’s Strategic Plan. Damaris is responsible for the liaison activities among the Division and external constituents including the Florida Board of Governors and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Damaris also serves as the Academic Affairs representative on the university Behavior Intervention Team which provides a coordinated process for identifying and responding to students who may be at risk of harming themselves or others, or who may reasonably pose a threat to the safety and well-being of the campus community.

Damaris is a proud double alumna of FIU. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a minor in Economics. In 2011 she graduated with a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.

Damaris resides in Miami, FL where she and her husband, Antony Valdes, a fellow FIU alum, are raising their two young children, Nicole and David.
