About the Program

Florida International University's Educational Leadership Enhancement Program is designed to prepare mid-level women and minorities for advancement to senior-level administrative positions in higher education.

Program Description

The 18-month program consists of monthly on-campus meetings where executive-level administrators are invited to describe the role and responsibilities of their offices, as well as their personal career paths.

After a one-on-one meeting with the program director, each participant is assigned a mentor. In concert with their mentors, each participant is required to prepare a project focusing on an area that will enhance their knowledge and further their development.

Program highlights include:

  1. A series of executive briefings presented by FIU’s senior administrators.
  2. Seminars and readings on topics pertinent to leadership advancement in higher education administration.
  3. The development of an action plan focusing on career goals and educational preparation vis-à-vis strategies that will lead to advancement.
  4. The creation and implementation of a project geared to enhance knowledge of an unfamiliar facet of higher education.
